Ahmed Aldossary’s Biography
I was raised in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and attended university at King Saud University in Riyadh where I graduated with my Bachelor of Science degree in Geology in 2010.
For several years I worked for Saudi Aramco as a geologist. My reliability and commitment to my profession allowed me to be selected most often to assist with geological studies on offshore oil rigs and deep in the desert for weeks at a time. I took several English classes and became very fluent in the language.
Since moving to the US, I began a teaching career in SW Florida at a charter school for less advantaged students. This is where I found my passion for teaching. I have found it to be the most rewarding experience of my life. My students understand my requirement for mutual respect between myself and also their fellow students. Utilizing this mutual respect for one another, my students have learned to thrive and flourish in their science studies. The administration is extremely happy with the students’ performance and continually allow me to explore new and innovative ways to enhance their learning potential. In my first year I was recognized as New Teacher of the Year, which I found very humbling. I am doing something that I love and receiving such positive recognition is very endearing. I have continued to be recognized by my peers, becoming a chairperson for the Lighthouse School Program, asked to chaperone the school trips to Washington DC on numerous occasions, as well as other outings. I have also been asked to help coach others to develop their classroom management skills. In addition, and most importantly, my students have achieved higher test scores year over year. Recently I was recognized as having the third highest increase in testing results in SW Florida. Along with the academics, I also enjoy playing soccer with my students and encouraging them to be outside and exercise more.
